Athlete’s care – Tony Gonzalez Foundation

Tony Gonzalez is a future hall of fame professional football player that has made a mark in Kansas City for the Chiefs and in Altanta for the Falcons. Not only is he an icon on the field but off the field as well, he created a foundation for emotional and educational support by helping medically challenged children through the Shadow Buddies Foundation, and providing support for the disadvantaged youth through The Boys and Girls Club. Helping care givers and patients, noticing their support to help others for children and adults. The purpose of the Tony Gonzalez Foundation is to serve as a positive force in the lives of individuals in need, no matter their age, financial status, ethnic background, physical abilities or limitations. THis is great to me because being an athlete I know that he can be very busy but he takes the time out to care about his fans in the community.

‘Sister survivors’: Latinas band together in breast cancer battle

With it being October “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” many citizens help and support the cause of the deadly disease. “About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime” (breastcancer.org). Last summer, Jessica Rodriguez didn’t want to go outside, or even open the door. She didn’t want anyone to see she had lost her hair during breast cancer treatment. Rodriguez, 39, said she found strength from the support of her husband and children, and through an organization called Nueva Vida, a support network for Latinas with cancer based in Washington. At support meetings, she met other women who had lost their hair in cancer treatment and realized she was not alone. Receive support and the fight , influenced survival.

George Zimmerman: Wife has doubts about his innocence

George Zimmerman’s wife Shellie Zimmerman has doubts about her husband really being guilty about intentionally killing young Trayvon Martin. There are quotes that say “What happens in the dark comes to light” and “Karma is alive and well”. Ever since the not guilty Zimmerman was off trial, other offenses have been brought upon him such as investigation for thief and having a illegal weapon. “Shellie Zimmerman was moving her belongings out of the couple’s Lake Mary, Florida home when she called police and reported that her husband threatened her and her father with a gun. Both Shellie and George, who claimed his wife hit him with her iPad during the confrontation, agreed to not press charges against each other.”

Spanish Athlete sets example of kindness, sportsmanship

Spanish athlete Ivan Fernandez Anaya did a very sportsmanship like task in the Burlada Cross race in the city of Navarra. As he was finishing the race with 150 meters left, but instead he stopped and encouraged African runner Abel Mutai to finish the race and come in first place. Honestly, this was a very bold act of sportsmanship something I’d probably wouldnt have done but it takes a true gentlemen to do this. The Kenya runner couldnt speak english, he thought the race was over but he had roughly 30 meters left in the race. So Ivan went behind him and pushed him encouraging and guiding him towards the finish line. In the end of the interview Anaya quotes “On this occasion I let myself win because my heart told me that he was the winner of the race,” (anaya). In the worlds eyes Anaya is the true winner.
